I've been meaning to go to the Mima Mounds for some time now. Friday was beautifully sunny and we both just so happened to have the day off together (such a rarity these days), so we took a short drive south of Olympia and visited this geological wonder.

The prairie is far more stunning in the spring, we've heard. Right now it's all dead grass...

Although Kevin swears it was the perfect terrain for his barefoot sandals.
We had a picnic in the late afternoon
and watched as the sun set over the mounds.
Love that this is so close to home! The Pacific Northwest really is incredible.
