Updates Around the Tiny House

Our landlords were nice enough to give us an old dog run to use as deer fencing for our garden. Right now all I have are 7 tomato plants, but we bought the materials (minus the soil) to build a raised bed and turn the dog run into a partial greenhouse.

Our fencing, pre-assembly.

Teamwork!

Fencing up!

Kevin dug out a 30" X 72" plot for the raised bed, but we haven't had a chance to build it just yet.
However, we've managed to put together a nice little campfire site, (picture me rock hunting and hauling them to the pit with not a wheelbarrow in sight) complete with four lawn chairs we found at the Goodwill for $5 and a pretty great stump.  We've been enjoying drinking our morning coffee out here and roasting (tofurkey) hot dogs around the fire. It's like a second living room!

And thanks to our friends Annika and Brandon, we also have a wood pile.
                 Christmas gift idea: a chainsaw.

Oh, and of course we had to have this convenience for everyone.

If you look around the property, we're adding little things here and there. We've decorated the garden bed around the house with stones, similar to the rock garden we had at our old place. There are at least 5 bird feeders, and I hope to build a bat house eventually.

I didn't even notice Kevin had hung this on a tree until its yellow eyes caught me by surprise.
I literally jumped when I saw it.

Have a happy Monday, friends!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Ever since our move at the end of April, things have been busy, busy, busy. We moved to our new house then road tripped to Colorado for the Shpongle concert. We've stayed busy with entertaining far more than we ever have, hosting our first dinner party with our friends Patrice and Gareth, as well as a housewarming/engagement/birthday party this last weekend. We had people camp on our property and hang around our campfire with good food and lots of beer.

We've also been exploring our property and the Capital Forest surrounding us. Our landlords teach Hawaiian Massage and are often gone for retreats, so we've been taking their dog for hikes and walks in the woods.
And of course, there's the never-ending (or so it seems) wedding preparation!

I wish I could say things have slowed down now, but we're just getting started!
T-minus 47 days!!!!!!!

Thankful Thursdays

Lately I've been thankful for hidden treasures in the woods behind my house

That this is so close to home

An abundance of these beautiful (yet toxic!) flowers in our yard

And for someone who isn't afraid of the spiders when rescuing a curious cat from the depths of our attic.
