Lovesick Expo

I got to cross the first thing off my list this weekend! Kevin and I drove to Seattle on Sunday, (which, honestly, was an adventure in itself) for the Lovesick Expo, an alternative wedding expo. Last year, about two weeks after we got engaged, we went to a traditional expo at the Great Wolf Lodge in Tenino, which, in my newly engaged state, was lovely/terrible/overwhelming. Kevin pretty much hated it the entire time. To make it up to him (and to get one more expo fix before my own wedding) I decided we had to go to this one.

Highlights:
They had a bar
I met Ariel Meadow Stallings, founder of the Offbeat Bride Empire
We met Stephanie, owner of With these Rings Handmade and who we'll be working with this month to weld our own wedding bands

It was smaller than I expected (and very crowded in the small downtown venue), but everyone seemed pretty laid back. Kevin and I already have all of our vendors so I went mostly for the drinks and the experience. I wanted to see how it was different than the other wedding expos. It catered to "alternative" lifestyles and tastes, was LGBT friendly, and had vendors such as an adult toy store and boudoir photographers.  There were burlesque and pole dancers, upcycled wedding gowns, funky Seattle bakeries and lots of photographers. Despite its size, it was still fun to look around, people-watch, and pretend for a few minutes that we are not painfully introverted people.

I adored this wall.

Thankful (Friday)

This week I am thankful for the chance to celebrate our 3-year anniversary together. Soon we'll be celebrating wedding anniversaries, too. Does that mean we get to celebrate two anniversaries every year?! I sure hope so! I love you, Kevin.
